Gerard Way has given My Chemical Romance fans a plan for what comes after the current run of shows: the band wants to make a record in 2027. Speaking at the Hollywood Bowl on October 30, the singer also expressed hope of returning to the stage in 2028, according to NME's October 31 report.

The remarks describe an intention to record, rather than a finished album or a release date. Way's possible 2028 return is similarly a hope, not a newly booked tour. The Hollywood Bowl's listing confirms the Devil's Night bill with The Used.
Where a new record would sit in the catalog
My Chemical Romance's most recent studio album remains 2010's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. The group broke up in 2013 and announced its reunion in 2019. Its 2022 single, The Foundations of Decay, brought new music after that reunion without opening a fifth studio-album campaign.
There is another release worth separating from that album count. As the band's discography and history record, Conventional Weapons collected singles issued in 2012 and 2013 from sessions recorded in 2009. Those releases are not evidence that a new studio album followed Danger Days. Readers revisiting that era can start with Party Poison.
A recording year leaves the release calendar open
An album could require recording, editing and release planning beyond the year a band enters the studio. Way's statement leaves those stages open. Fans have a direction to follow, but no announced title, track list or sale date to put beside it.
That makes this an earlier stage of the process than the dated release in our CHVRCHES album report. The long gap between a reunion and new recording is also a different story from the return to live performance covered in our Oasis reunion-tour report.
