David Bowie's 1978 Earls Court performances are heading to an arena audience in Stage, a restored concert-film production set to premiere at Berlin's Uber Arena on February 14, 2027. Wonderworld, the Bowie Estate and filmmaker Brett Morgen announced the project on October 27.

The official release describes unseen 35mm footage presented across multiple screens, with lighting by Patrick Woodroffe and an audio mix by Paul Massey. The venue listing confirms a 20:00 start and doors at 18:00. This is a presentation of archival performance, with the premiere still months away.

Stage the film and Stage the album have different sources

The title can create a useful question for collectors. Bowie's 1978 live album Stage drew recordings from Providence, Boston and Philadelphia. The new production uses Earls Court film. Both belong to the Isolar II tour, but that does not make them the same recording.

The British Council's project entry identifies David Hemmings as the director of the original footage and Morgen as director of the 2027 production. It lists the format as an immersive concert experience. That provenance gives a clearer picture of what has been restored than the shared album title alone.

Today's presale precedes Friday's general sale

The detailed ticket schedule distinguishes two openings: presale on October 28 at 09:00 GMT, followed by general sale on October 30 at 09:00 GMT. Both correspond to 10:00 in Berlin. The arena page identifies today's opening as its presale, so a ticket-sale headline should not be read as unrestricted general availability.

Our coverage of Metallica's official Sphere videos follows another route from a concert to a screen; FKA twigs' Meltdown appointment concerns the curation of a future live programme. Stage instead brings a specific historical performance back through restored film, sound and lighting. No account of the February presentation can yet be a review of the finished arena experience.
