The Flaming Lips will release The Teardrop Throbs on January 22, 2027. Third Man Records announced the album on October 26, accompanied by lead single “God Will Control The Werewolves.” It is the band's first all-new studio album in more than six years.

The 13-track record marks the band's label debut for Third Man. Its product listing offers black vinyl, limited “Teardrop Blue” vinyl, CD and digital streaming.

A colour variant, with one published track list

The store presents a single 13-song sequence alongside the format options. It does not advertise extra songs for the blue pressing. Buyers comparing editions therefore have a documented colour choice, but no announced bonus-track difference to weigh against the black LP or CD.

That is a useful distinction in a catalogue where special pressings take different forms. Third Man's limited U2 release was a separate vinyl project; the recent Robbie Williams reissue returned an existing album to the format. Here, the coloured edition accompanies a newly recorded album.

One title reaches back to Yoshimi

The track list includes “Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell Part Two.” In the release notes, Wayne Coyne connects it with the similarly titled song on 2002's Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, while explaining that it is a new rendering rather than the same song. It gives listeners a specific point of reference within the band's catalogue.

The accompanying shows take place in 2027. General ticket sales open October 30 at 10 a.m. local time, giving fans a separate date to watch before the album arrives.
