Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath's final performances are heading for a December 11 soundtrack and home-film release. The announcement arrived on October 28, as Back to the Beginning opened in cinemas, with CD, vinyl, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD and digital options planned through Mercury Studios.

Pre-orders opened with a live version of “Mr. Crowley.” A deluxe box is also available to order, but its release is scheduled for April 2027. Fans choosing a physical edition therefore face two release dates, and the later box has material beyond the December package.

What comes with the December discs

The official CD and Blu-ray listing specifies a 146-minute feature on both 4K Ultra HD and HD Blu-ray, alongside the CD soundtrack of the Ozzy and Sabbath performances. It lists stereo, 5.1 and Dolby Atmos sound options.

The extras include Jack Black performing “Mr. Crowley,” Fred Durst singing “Changes,” a behind-the-scenes feature, video tributes and a Sounds of Birmingham documentary. For listeners returning to the Ozzy Osbourne catalogue, that pairs the music with a filmed account of the farewell rather than offering another studio-album collection.

The larger box arrives later

According to the new release announcement, the April deluxe set adds memorabilia and a bonus HD Blu-ray covering all 35 Ozzy and Sabbath songs and covers performed by special guests. The standard December edition's listed guest extras should not be mistaken for that larger programme.

The underlying Back to the Beginning concert took place at Villa Park on July 5, 2025. The new release preserves the last chapter of a career explored in our Ozzy album guide, while its Birmingham setting connects with the city's continuing tributes to the singer. The home editions are a new release announcement, not a newly performed concert.
