There is another Enter Shikari song to hear before the band's planned hiatus. "Higher Ground" has arrived as a surprise single, with the release now listed on their official site. It is new music in the Lose Your Self era, rather than a farewell: the break announced earlier this month is still more than a year away.

Higher Ground was left off Lose Your Self

According to NME's release report, the song dates back to the period when Enter Shikari were making Lose Your Self. They put it aside, then finished it over the summer. It is their first new music since the album.

The original twelve tracks remain a separate release

Look back at the band's original album information and there are twelve tracks, from "Dead In The Water" to the three parts of "Spaceship Earth." No "Higher Ground." That makes the new single an addition outside the original album sequence, not a track listeners overlooked on their first play.

The album had no advance singles. Enter Shikari wanted listeners to encounter it whole, whereas this release puts one song up front. Surprise drops need not signal a new album campaign either; Rihanna's surprise single return is another case we have covered.

The band still have plans before the break

Their statement about their future places the pause after December 31, 2027. They have not announced a split or a return date. Recording and performing will both stop for a period whose length they have left open.

No farewell world tour is planned

The immediate focus remains the Lose Your Self tour. The band specifically ruled out a farewell world tour and discussed possible anniversary activity for older records, rather than a finished package of dates and editions. Those possibilities are worth following, but they are not bookings fans can make yet.

Unlike Enter Shikari's band history and our song page for "Dead In The Water".
