Marika Hackman has announced False Dogs for February 19, 2027, opening the album campaign with the single “33.” The Chrysalis release contains 12 songs and will be followed by a UK and European tour beginning at London's Royal Festival Hall on February 26.

A record she wrote, arranged and produced

The release announcement credits Hackman with writing, arranging and producing the record, as well as playing almost every instrument. Work at her East London studio was followed by ten days at Big Jelly Studios in Ramsgate, with Charlie Andrew and Polly Mackey contributing. “33” uses a children's choir in a song about looking backwards while worrying about what comes next.

It follows Hackman's January 2024 album Big Sigh. A little over three years separate the two scheduled release dates.

Different packages, the same announced songs

Checking the CD and black-vinyl listings against the announced running order reveals packaging choices, not a bonus-track edition. Both list the same dozen songs, from “33” to “Crimson.” The physical options include:

No extra recordings are advertised in those format descriptions. Someone choosing a copy can focus on the object they want, without assuming that a different vinyl color buys a longer album. Tour presale is scheduled for October 22 at 10am BST, followed by general sale the next day at the same time.

The distinction is worth keeping alongside recent physical releases: Robbie Williams' vinyl reissue revisits an existing album, while U2's limited-edition vinyl is a different kind of collector release. False Dogs brings a new set of original songs in several packages.
