On the floating, shipless oceans
I did all my best to smile
'Til your singing eyes and fingers
Drew me loving to your isle
And you sang, Sail to me, sail to me
Let me enfold you,
Here I am, here I am
Waiting to hold you"
Did I dream you dreamed about me?
Were you here when I was full sail?
Now my foolish boat is leaning
Broken lovelorn on your rocks
For you sing, Touch me not, touch me not,
come back tomorrow: O my heart,
O my heart shies from the sorrow
Well I'm as puzzled as the newborn child
I'm as riddled as the tide:
Should I stand amid the breakers?
Or should I lie with death my bride?
Hear me sing, Swim to me, swim to me,
Let me enfold you

For me, it revives all memories of my loved ones. whom I never want to lose. Maybe someday when I will be old, sitting on an easy chair with my Memories all lost, I Will be happy if someone plays this song for me.

And she is there waiting to hold you. This makes me think of my sister too. It is brave for you to reach out. Thank you. Those of us who have been through the unthinkable continue to light the path for each other so we can find them again.

I was not familiar with this song until I heard it done by Alfie Boe and Robert Plant on Alfie's latest CD. With those two voices it has to be the most hauntingly beautiful song I have ever heard.

On a live version, she clearly says 'Were you here when I was flotsam?' (Flotsam: debris floating after a shipwreck. Also, something discarded)

my sister suicided in 1982 and I was having so many dreams at the time. This version of the song gave voice to all my feelings and to my dreams. Even today all these years laterI am transported to her

If you close your eyes, in a silenced room and listen to the cry in her voice.. You will be moved to a place like no other. She truly is, the voice of an angel

This song, it's like a healing song for me.. My little cousin drowned last winter. I'm always waiting to hold him again.
For me, it revives all memories of my loved ones. whom I never want to lose. Maybe someday when I will be old, sitting on an easy chair with my Memories all lost, I Will be happy if someone plays this song for me.
