- Murder City Lyrics

Desperate
But not hopeless
I feel so useless
In the murder city

Desperate
But not helpless
The clock strikes midnight
In the murder city

I'm wide awake
After the riot
This demonstration
Of our anguish

This empty laughter
Has no reason
Like a bottle
Of your favorite poison

We are the last call
And we're so pathetic

Desperate
But not hopeless
I feel so useless
In the murder city

Desperate
But not helpless
The clock strikes midnight
In the murder city
Christian's crying
In the bathroom
And I just want to
Bum a cigarette

We've come so far
We've been so wasted
It's written
All over our faces

We are the last call
And we're so pathetic

Desperate
But not hopeless
I feel so useless
In the murder city

Desperate
But not helpless
The clock strikes midnight
In the murder city

Desperate
But not hopeless
I feel so useless
In the murder city

Desperate
But not helpless
The clock strikes midnight
In the

What is the meaning behind Murder City lyrics?

When we reflect on what the artist might have meant, Green Day's song 'Murder City' conveys a powerful feeling of desperation and hopelessness in the midst of a city where chaos and decay are the order of the day. The words tell the story of a person who feels useless and is stuck in the cycle of bad behavior, which is represented by the 'murder city' where the protagonists are fighting with their demons and are also bearing the brunt of the actions they take. The lyrics mainly highlight despair, angst, anger, social commentary, and reflection. However, the song at the same time emphasizes the need of desperation, hopelessness, and the suffering, anguish, and addiction that lead to the search for escape. In the lyrics, one can find desperation, hopelessness, and allusions to substance use that might not be appropriate for the under 13 age group. A 'murder city' and the psychological pain portrayed are signs that a more adult context is implied.

Christian is one of the main characters in the album, grant. It is a person, not a collective of all Christians.

@grant ... maybe because Gloria (the one singing) wants to just get over the whole tension..they're stuck right smack in the middle of hell and she just feels like forgetting everything.
