CHICAGO

25 Or 6 To 4 Lyrics

Waiting for the break of day
Searching for something to say
Flashing lights against the sky
Giving up, I close my eyes

Sitting cross-legged on the floor
25 or 6 to 4

Staring blindly into space
Getting up to splash my face
Wanting just to stay awake
Wondering how much I can take
Should I try to do some more
25 or 6 to 4
Oh yeah

Feeling like I ought to sleep
Spinning room is sinking deep
Searching for something to say
Waiting for the break of day

25 or 6 to 4
25 or 6 to 4
Alright

Lamm said it was a reference to time and writing a song. 25 or 6 to 4 means 25 or 26 minutes to 4, or 25 or 6 minutes to 4. No drugs as if they needed them to be creative.

everyone who says this song is about drugs is a moron. this song is about struggling to write a song, because, after their intital sucess, Chicago had a still period where they were unproductive.

when I was a kid the lyrics meant nothing and I was mostly into the music (which I still am) but after a few years of cocaine use under my belt, the lyrics become pretty evident as to what they mean-o

Terrific. Epitomizes true rock & roll in the late 60's when ABC radio played it over and over as one of the top 10 and I couldn't wait to hear it. Fast moving; trumpets, drums everything.
