I think what hes tring to say is that when he went to go visit his parents in his hometown nothing wasn't the same way it used to be when he was there in his childhood,and maybe everything changed.

He's gone to a different place(for tour maybe)which he do not recognise and is new to him..he feels completely lost in this new place and compares it with his place.He miss his people, his town,his family..By the way..Its a great song by jeremy..And the band... Great vocals..Catchy tune...
