In 1962 he founded Liverpool band The Roadrunners and in 1965 joined The Liverpool Scene, a poetry and music collective that featured Adrian Henri, Andy Roberts and Mike Evans. He stayed with them only for one album, leaving to pursue a solo career including an album called ‘Mike Hart Bleeds’ produced by the late John Peel on Peel's Dandelion label in 1969.
