After The Storm Lyrics

And after the storm,
I run and run as the rains come
And I look up, I look up,
on my knees and out of luck,
I look up.

Night has always pushed up day
You must know life to see decay
But I won't rot, I won't rot
Not this mind and not this heart,
I won't rot.

And I took you by the hand
And we stood tall,
And remembered our own land,
What we lived for.

And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more
tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your
fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.

And now I cling to what I knew
I saw exactly what was true
But oh no more.
That's why I hold,
That's why I hold with all I have.
That's why I hold.

I will die alone and be left there.
Well I guess I'll just go home,
Oh God knows where.
Because death is just so full and man so small.
Well I'm scared of what's behind and what's before.

And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more
tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your
fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.

And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more
tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your
fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.

I think the reason this song affects people so much is that it's about life itself. The storm is life and the hill is our journey through it. The chorus refers to the peace and love that will come at death. And the other verses address the fear we have while we're alive and the freedom that comes from knowing the truth. Whether I'm right or not, a beautiful song for sure!

This song was used in an episode of Stargate Universe. While watching it, I used SongID of my Android phone to get the title and artist because it was so beautiful. The next day i went to the store to buy the album. The rest of the album is great to. For sure i am a new fan of Mumford and Sons.

Perhaps the most perfect song ever written. With much sadness in my 55 years, this song sends a knife through my body! Beautiful!

This song is a very long mantra that I keep repeating to myself to make it through a painful divorce. Love it.

This past week of my life has been filled with death. Around EVERY corner the reaper stands waiting to welcome a soul back. This song just gave me strength. I can make it through. I believe.
