Mat Kearney Daydream Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Found ourselves in a cowboy bar
East side of the Rockies and the northern stars
They were singin'
Don't stop believin'
Chasing northern lights where the buffalos roam
Crazy how some places they can feel like home
Like the first time
I fell into your eyes

[Pre-Chorus]
But time slips away
But I can't forget the day
[Chorus]
You raised your glass north of Jackson
Said heres to us and everlasting
Said it kind of half-way laughing and we can sell everything
Chased the angels in the show
Raise a baby on the slopes
If it's real and we wanna know
We could fall asleep
Livin' in a daydream

[Verse 2]
Felt it in the summer that could never last
Halfway round the world there's no coming back
From the sunset and your silhouette [Pre-Chorus]
But time slips away
I can't forget the way

[Chorus]
You raised your hands out of the ocean
Felt the waves could cut you open
Said it kinda half-way joking we could sell everything
Counting days just like the sand and
Watch your wrinkled body stand
That could be the only plan to fall asleep
Livin' in a daydream
[Bridge]
But time slipped away
I still love the way

[Chorus]
You hold my hand here in Nashville
The shadow of boots we can't fill
Show me something that seems so real
I don't need a thing
Fireflies are burning bright
Dance away the August night
Something about this feels so right
I could fall asleep
Livin' in a daydream

[Outro]
We could fall asleep
Livin' in a daydream
