LED ZEPPELIN

- The Battle Of Evermore Lyrics

Queen of Light took her bow, And then she turned to go,
The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom, And walked the night alone.

Oh, dance in the dark of night, Sing to the morning light.
The dark Lord rides in force tonight, And time will tell us all.

Oh, throw down your plow and hoe, Rest not to lock your homes.

Side by side we wait the might of the darkest of them all.

I hear the horses' thunder down in the valley below,
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon, waiting for the eastern glow.

The apples of the valley hold, The seeds of happiness,
The ground is rich from tender care, Repay, do not forget, no, no.
Dance in the dark of night, sing to the morning light.

The apples turn to brown and black, The tyrant's face is red.

Oh the war is common cry, Pick up you swords and fly.
The sky is filled with good and bad that mortals never know.

Oh, well, the night is long the beads of time pass slow,
Tired eyes on the sunrise, waiting for the eastern glow.

The pain of war cannot exceed the woe of aftermath,
The drums will shake the castle wall, the ring wraiths ride in black, Ride on.

Sing as you raise your bow, shoot straighter than before.
No comfort has the fire at night that lights the face so cold.

Oh dance in the dark of night, Sing to the morning light.
The magic runes are writ in gold to bring the balance back. Bring it back.

At last the sun is shining, The clouds of blue roll by,
With flames from the dragon of darkness, the sunlight blinds his eyes.

What is the meaning behind The Battle Of Evermore lyrics?

When we dive into the story the lyrics are telling, Led Zeppelin's 'The Battle Of Evermore' is a song full of metaphors such as the Queen of Light, Prince of Peace, and the dark Lord. It gives war, balance, and the eternal fight between good and evil themes and even calls the listeners to battle for what is right and to bring back peace amid chaos. The battle of evermore lyrics mainly highlight inspiration, empowerment, hope, joy, and reflection. Simultaneously, the song downplays the Gospel of light vs. darkness, the conflict of war and the cycle of hope and renewal. The lyrics resonate with themes of darkness, war, and conflict that could be overwhelming for very young children unless guided by a parent. No explicit language or graphic content exists but the themes might need a discussion with the parent first.

Incredible song. The Battle of Evermore demonstrated the fearlessness of Zeppelin, they were willing to fuse together several types of music and deliver beautiful, unique songs. Evermore stands as a shining example. Oh, Peter (from first listed comment) the background singer - which is actually a duet - was not Jon Andersen, it was Sandy Denny. She is the only performer outside of Zeppelin to receive a credited performance with the band.

never really understood or liked zeppelin till I started dropping acid in the 70s, since then I have always loved this ballad, Jon Andersen's back up vocals were perfect for this song, definitely in my top 5 songs of all time.

Robert Plant was always heavily influenced by The Lord of the Rings & the viking sagas. In Ramble On, he mentioned Gollum & the evil Warg. Immigrant Song is about the vikings sailing to Iceland
