FLEETWOOD MAC

- The Chain Lyrics

Listen to the wind blow
Watch the sun rise

Run in the shadows
Damn your love, damn your lies

And if you don't love me now
You will never love me again
I can still hear you sayin'
You would never break the chain
(Never break the chain)

And if you don't love me now
(You don't love me now)
You will never love me again
I can still hear you sayin'
(Still hear you sayin')
You would never break the chain
(Never break the chain)

Listen to the wind blow
Down comes the night

Run in the shadows
Damn your love, damn your lies

Break the silence
Damn the dark, damn the light

And if you don't love me now
You will never love me again
I can still hear you sayin'
You would never break the chain
(Never break the chain)

And if you don't love me now
(You don't love me now)
You will never love me again
I can still hear you sayin'
(Still hear you sayin')
You would never break the chain
(Never break the chain)

And if you don't love me now
(You don't love me now)
You will never love me again
I can still hear you sayin'
(Still hear you sayin')
You would never break the chain
(Never break the chain)

(Yea, keep us together)
Run in the shadows
(Yea, keep us together)
Run into the shadows
(Yea, keep us together)
Run into the shadows
(Yea, keep us together)
Run in the shadows
(Yea, keep us together)

What is the meaning behind The Chain lyrics?

When we dive into the story the lyrics are telling, Fleetwood Mac's song 'The Chain' depicts the intricacies of relationships together with the emotional involvement that accompanies them. The chain is a metaphor for the powerful tie that connects two persons even when they are confronted with difficulties and misunderstandings. It is a picture of longing and a request for love to last, thereby stressing the notion that once a bond is made, it becomes very difficult to break. The lyrical content of the chain mainly speaks of love, heartbreak, angst, reflection, and despair. Simultaneously, however, through the song, one feels the struggle and suffering of both losing and gaining a partner as well as the tie and trust that come with that. Love and relationships are matured themes in the lyrics, since they touch on such issues as frustration and emotional conflict. Even though there are no strong words or vivid scenes, the concepts behind the song might be too heavy for kids and therefore, parental guidance is advised.

In the coda, the words are 'Chain, keep us together', not 'Yea, keep us together'. I would correct it myself but the 'CORRECT LYRICS' link is disabled.

This song hits home With Mr. Buckingham. I believe the drummer got Stevie Nicks hooked on cocaine. Soon they became lovers. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham Were the original couple.

The chain is gone. Break the chain of your silence and call me so I can run to you. I love you. Camila
