Cab Calloway Topsy Turvy Lyrics

I'm a striver, from up on Striver's Row
And I'm jivin' the very best to know
But hard times got things topsy-turvy

Oh, Lady Luck is the meanest chick in town
I know it 'cause she brought me down
Hard times got things topsy-turvy

You know, once I had lots and lots of money
And I used to dress up so debonair
But now I'm on my uppers
And tough luck may be, but it won't get in my hair
I'm a striver, from up on Striver's Row And I'm jivin' the very best to know
But hard times got things topsy-turvy

(Instrumental break)

Aw, Jack
I'm sort of beat my chance now, you, so
You better hit the road
'cause things are still topsy-turvy
Things are gonna be down on the turf now, Jack
'cause things are still topsy-turvy
The Great White Way is a little beat
But things are still topsy-turvy
