I have to say this is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever listened to. I think it has a deeper meaning than summer ending. I think this is Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys saying this is our last song and he is using summer to represent that because they are the eternal boys of summer. "We laugh, We Cry we live then die and dream about our yesterday" it holds a nostalgic feel to it that when you listen to this song you just want to cry.
