Nasir "Nas" Jones and Christopher "DJ Premier" Martin are an American hip-hop rapper-producer duo. The collaboration began in the early 1990s when DJ Premier produced three tracks for Nas's highly acclaimed 1994 debut album, Illmatic. These tracks—"N.Y. State of Mind", "Memory Lane (Sittin' in da Park)", and "Represent"—are considered foundational masterpieces of the East Coast hip-hop sound.
