In August 2008, Alex Day searched the web for “Time Lord Rock” - a subsection of music he thought would exist to celebrate the TV show Doctor Who - but got no results. Shortening the term to ‘Trock’, he introduced the concept to his YouTube viewers, launching the music with a self-penned song called An Awful Lot Of Running (inspired by the words of Jenny at the end of the 2008 episode ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’).Charlie McDonnell was quickly approached to form a band as he had written his own song which would fit perfectly into the ‘Trock’ concept; Blink, a song about the 2007 Who episode of the same name.
