A Welcome Distraction began back in early 2008, after Alex cut ties with his last band.In looking to start a new band, Alex got Javier,a friend since high school who was into playing rhythm guitar as well as singing his heart out and also very into theatrics was an ideal front man for the job.Months Later, A.W.D would end up recording a 4 track demo before their first official show at the historic Whisky A Go Go landing a co-headlining spot. They received positive Feedback from there first show and so began to push forth in various other venues.
