- Eulogy Lyrics

He had a lot to say.
He had a lot of nothing to say.
We'll miss him.

We're going to miss him.

It's, so long.
We wish you well.
You told us how you weren't afraid to die.
Well then, so long.
Don't cry.
Or feel too down.
Not all martyrs see divinity.
But at least you tried.

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud.
We'll miss him.
Ranting and pointing his finger
At everything but his heart.
We'll miss him.

No way to recall
What it was that you had said to me,
Like I care at all.

But it was so loud.
You sure could yell.
You took a stand on every little thing
And so loud.

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade cuz I'm so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same,
Someone prepared to lead the way, and
Someone who would die for me.

Will you? Will you now?
Would you die for me?
Don't you f*ckin lie.

Don't you step out of line.
Don't you f*ckin lie.

You've claimed all this time that you would die for me.
Why then are you so surprised when you hear your own eulogy?

You had a lot to say.
You had a lot of nothing to say.

Jump down.
Get off your f*ckin cross.
We need the f*ckin space to nail the next fool martyr.

To ascend you must die.
You must be crucified
For our sins and our lies. [sic]
Goodbye...

What is the meaning behind Eulogy lyrics?

When we analyze the meaning behind the words, the track 'Eulogy' by Tool is about examining the notion of adoration for a so-called martyr who, in fact, is just a hypocrite and a self-seeker. The message in the lyrics is mainly about questioning the commitment to such people and the realness of their actions, underlining that it is essential to look beyond false appearances and not be fooled by miss leading views. Eulogy vaunts primarily reflecting, heartbreak, despair, angst and nostalgia riding the whole time. Yet it touches on loss and memory with strong veins running through it of disillusionment with martyrdom, and identity and influence. The lyrics are laden with strong language and also address the topics of death and martyrdom which are likely to be categorized as adult content. The usage of curse words and the dive into metaphysical matters indicate that the material is inappropriate for kids below seventeen years old without a parent accompanying them.

Eulogy is not about Bill Hicks. They loved Bill. This song is an insult. Heard it was about Henry Rollins. Cannot be about Hubbard because he and Maynard were never friends (line 4) and he never liked Hubbard.

I was a fan years ago, because he had such a persona, and unique sound, but after reading the lyrics to this, and other songs,i find it to be the worst blasphemy against Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

it seems to be about someone who is a cult leader. they may have had a specific instance in mind when making this art, but there are many situations which fit this theme. Hitler manson jonestown etc.

I used to always think this song was about Bill Hicks too. After properly reading the lyrics I'm sure its about Jesus' life and death. The album may be dedicated to bill Hicks but this song isn't.

Learn about Bill Hicks. This song is about him. The whole Aenema album was a tribute. It all makes sense once you know.
