Taj Mahal Eighteen Hammers Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I got eighteen hammers
Lord I love to, lord I love to hear them ring
I got eighteen hammers
I love to hear them when they ring
Sometimes late at night, mama
I sit just to hear my hammer ring
Baby, just to hear my hammer
Come on, just to hear my hammer
Baby, just to hear my hammer ring

[Verse 2]
Been swingin' this hammer long as I
Long as I could make it move around
Swingin' on that hammer, baby
Long as I could make it move around
I'm just swingin' twelve pounds
Baby mama, from my hips on down
Baby, now you know I'm gonna swing
Baby, I'm gonna swing
My hammer from my hips on down

[Verse 3]
Some boys' hammer ring like silver
My hammer ring like, my hammer ring like pure gold
Some boys' hammer ring like silver
Mine ring like pure gold
There's a woman in this town got a lien on my body
Mortgage on my soul
Lord, she got a mortgage, lord, she got a mortgage
Lien on my body, a mortgage on my soul

[Verse 4]
Well, makin' good music
Well, to the break, well, to the break of dawn
We gonna make good music
Mama, 'til the break of dawn Well, please stand a little
Baby, which side are you on?
Makin' good music
Tell me which side
I know which side you're on

[Verse 1]
I got eighteen hammers, baby
Lord, and I love to hear them when they, hear them when they ring
Eighteen hammers, baby
Hear them when they ring
Sometime late at night, mama
I sit just to hear my hammer ring
Baby, just to hear my hammer
Mama, just to hear my hammer
Baby, just to hear my hammer ring

[Verse 5]
Well, brother, if you down in Jackson, down in Houston
Down in Jackson and you hear this sound
Brother, if you down in Jackson, Houston and you hear this sound
You know doggone well, brother
Who has struck in your town
Yes, you know that the blues
Yeah, you know that the blues
The blues has struck into town

[Verse 1]
I got eighteen hammers
Lord, and I, lord I love to hear them ring
I got eighteen hammers
And I love to hear them ring
Sometime late at night, mama
I sit just to hear my hammer ring
Baby, just to hear my
Baby, just to hear my
Baby, just to hear my hammer ring
