NIRVANA

- Lounge Act Lyrics

Truth covered in security.
I can't let you smother me.
I'd like to but it wouldn't work.
Trading off and taking turns.
I don't regret a thing.

I've got this friend, you see.
Who makes me feel. And I wanted more Than I could steal.
I'll arrest myself. I'll wear a shield.
I'll go out of my way To prove I still Smell her on you.

Don't tell me what I wanna hear.
Afraid of never knowning fear. Experience anything you need.
I'll keep fighting jealousy. Until it's f*cking gone.

I've got this friend, you see.
Who makes me feel. And I wanted more Than I could steal.
I'll arrest myself. I'll wear a shield.
I'll go out of my way To prove I still Smell her on you.

Truth covered in security.
I can't let you smother me.
I'd like to but it couldn't work.
Trading off and taking turns.
I don't regret a thing.

I've got this friend, you see.
Who makes me feel. And I wanted more Than I could steal.
I'll arrest myself. I'll wear a shield.
I'll go out of my way to make you a deal.
We'll make a pact to learn from who. Whatever we want.
Whitout new rules. We'll share what's lost and what we grew.
They'll go out for their way to prove they still smell her on you.
They still, smell her on you. Smell her on you.

When we take a closer look to the meaning, Nirvana's 'Lounge Act' is a song that explores quite vividly the feelings of insecurity, jealousy and the complicated nature of relationships. The words vividly illustrate the attraction between two people and the difficulties of trusting one another, with the phrase 'smell her on you' serving as a symbol of the suspicion and mistrust that can exist in a friendship or romantic relationship. Lounge act lyrics largely stress love, angst, heartbreak, reflection and anger. The song, on the other hand, demonstrates how self-identity and independence, friendship and connection, and jealousy and emotional struggle can coexist. The lyrics contain some rather adult themes and language, including swearing, which can be considered inappropriate for kids below 13 years. Jealousy and complicated relationships are among the themes that reveal emotional intensity, thus parental guidance being recommended.
