Mighty Sparrow Postcard To Sparrow Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Christmas Bells are ringing
Everybody singing
Children are dancing
Young couples romancing
My lover from Trinidad
Sent me a little postcard
I opened and read
And this is what the little postcard said

[Chorus]
Have a Merry Christmas my dear
And have a Happy New Year
Prosperous in everything you do
Happy Holiday to you

[Verse 2]
She say how she miss me
And longing to kiss me
She is very lonely
And she love me only
I stood almost hypnotized
With tears running from my eyes
But still I could see
The Season's Greeting she sent to mе

[Chorus]
Have a Merry Christmas my dear
And havе a Happy New Year
Prosperous in everything you do
Happy Holiday to you

[Verse 3] My poor heart was aching
And me hands were shaking
So I kept on trying
To keep me from crying
I tried everything I could
But my heart isn't made of wood
With card in me hand
I cried more than Alice in Wonderland

[Chorus]
With this Merry Christmas my dear
Have a Happy New Year
Prosperous in everything you do
Happy Holiday to you

[Verse 4]
When Dottie was leaving
I knew I was grieving
But I tried my utmost
To be as strong as a lamp post
But love is a crazy thing
It is no use pretending
I love her so bad
Tomorrow I'm going back to Trinidad

[Chorus]
Have a Merry Christmas my dear
And have a Happy New Year
Prosperous in everything you do
Happy Holiday to you
