It is obviously clear that Ronnie is writing about his aching heart before he found Christ. His exigence is leading him to the throne of God by the power of the Holy Spirit. He declares the fact that he is an empty and hollow vessel of a person without the indwelling of Christ. This is a reference to Romans 3:23. Paul made these facts known in the first century. JE eloquently and quasi-simply calls to Christ for salvation and for a mending of his vacant soul. It exemplifies in a relatively simple form for people of all ages to answer the call that God has planted in their hearts and souls.
