There are children standing here,
Arms outstretched into the sky,
Tears drying on their face.
He has been here.
Brothers lie in shallow graves.
Fathers lost without a trace.
A nation blind to their disgrace,
Since he's been here.
And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.
Houses burnt beyond repair.
The smell of death is in the air.
A woman weeping in despair says,
He has been here.
Tracer lighting up the sky.
It's another families' turn to die.
A child afraid to even cry out says,
He has been here.
And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.
There are children standing here,
Arms outstretched into the sky,
But no one asks the question why,
He has been here.
Old men kneel to accept their fate.
Wives and daughters cut and raped.
A generation drenched in hate
says, he has been here.
And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.

What is the meaning behind No Bravery lyrics?
When we think about the deeper meaning of the song, James Blunt's tune 'No Bravery' narrates the story of war and its aftermath been done through a dark lens focusing on death, pain, and even the most horrible things that can happen in a conflict situation. The song has a very sad outlook on life where the people are living a daily hell of wars, deaths, and sorrows who hardly think what is happening around them and are totally overwhelmed by the grief and the absence of bravery in such an unfortunate case. 'No bravery' lyrics reflect mostly on human desolation, social commentary, angst, anger and heartbreak simultaneously. In addition to this, the song highlights the very important themes of war and its consequences, loss and despair and again lack of bravery and hope. The lyrics reveal the presence of violence, death and despair, through the mentioning of war, loss and trauma, which the society at large considers to be adult materials. The very distressful picture of children, along with the reference to very serious issues like rape and hate, adds to the necessity for adults to be involved, thus making the song unsuitable for children below the age of 17. ✔️

Brook you think you're cool because you know him? Don't you have other things to do then write comments about a song of a guy you know personally... Look for a hobby

No it stands for War. I know James personally and we've had some discussions about many of his lyrics and of this song in particular.

I was told that Blunt wrote this song in Kosovo, when he was there as an officer, during the war in the nineties. So maybe the 'he' in the song stands for 'war'?
