DEVIL WEARS PRADA

- Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over Lyrics

Welcome, to, the, war welcome the war;
a martyr's challenge!

Chainsaw brutality, tornado strength (4x)
King of the diamond; king of the grave (2x)
Lawlessness stains black on whitewashed tombs
We're, too strong, to, compromise

Don't be ashamed of your faith!
Dear Lord - deliver me from hypocrisy and surcease,
the scarlet desire (2x)
He wears a slick jacket and gold watch
Her dishonesty has scarred hands (2x)

What is the meaning behind Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over lyrics?

When we try to understand the message behind it, the Devil Wears Prada's song 'Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over' touches on the topic of inner strength and resilience when facing difficulties. The writer of the song applied metaphors such as 'Chainsaw brutality, tornado strength' to show the extreme nature of the battles fought, while 'King of the diamond, king of the grave' is a way to show the opposition between power and death. The statement 'Don't be ashamed of your faith' is an encouragement to keep believing regardless of the outside pressure, and the metaphor of 'slick jacket and gold watch' versus 'scarred hands' marks the difference between surface-levels and inner-truths. Dogs can grow beards all over lyrics largely convey indignation, frustration, hopelessness, empowerment, and societal critique. Simultaneously, the song points out the necessity of struggle and conflict, faith and integrity, and deceit and consequences. The lyrics are rich with the themes of violence along with strong imagery, for instance, 'chainsaw brutality' and 'war,' that might render the song inappropriate for kids under the age of 13. The mentions of 'hypocrisy' and 'dishonesty' imply adult themes as well that might not be suitable for children of younger ages and therefore, a warning is given.

@ambur and @katie, this song is about keeping your faith strong, the chainsaw brutality is talking about the strength of satan's temptation

Ambur: If you think long enough, the lyrics do make some sense. There's some themes of hypocrisy (whitewashed tombs references the Pharisees) and temptation. Hardcore isn't for everyone.

so, my hatred for this band is unreal. Their songs make absolutely no sense. I haven't heard a song i can listen to all the way through.

I don't hear 'chainsaw brutality' at all...I always thought it sounded like 'can I dig a little grave' or 'can i dig a little deep' at least at first. I don't get 'chainsaw brutality.'
