- The Seven Lyrics

It was the night of the long storm, the time of civil war,
Some claimed we were dying while others reaped rewards.
The people of the old streets called for protection.
Is there no Rap God left to stop the infection?
We were once a tight, well harvested village
Before the coming of the bandits when our artists were pillaged,
The beats were once like wheat, the lyrics like Barley
But now no Illmatic, no One Love, no Marleys
So The people sought the counsel of the older man
There was still one Kriss left to help them overstand
He said “Ah Yeah, the art needs to shed the Criminal Minded
Find hungry skilled warriors, have them redefine it”
So then the people left the town and stalked the projects
Searching for the willing, those who walk with prophets
They found nothing at first but a young man with great skill
But not enough experience to direct their will
Then they saw an old samurai from S.I., alive
Dissing up the Half Dollar Thief online
Viral, and the young one wished to be his disciple
Cuz he recalled the days he brought his liquid swords to ciphers
The Old samurai agreed to join the rebellion
But said they needed four soldiers, “one for each element”
In fact, including me, we probably need three more
Like a well placed chess piece achieve victory in war
He thought of a trio of names, certainly the best
The Great White Hope, the Roc and the Don of the Mid-West
But as the people watched he suddenly became depressed
Realizing now they're less soldiers and more execs
So he rung an old friend he hasn't seen, years it's been
Then he crossed the ravine using the bridge of Queens
It was he who first pronounced the death of the nation
Surely he's a candidate for participation
When they met in depth, they discussed how he had learned from mistakes
Reminisced of verbal intercourse and purple tapes
He shook the samurai's hand and said he's repenting
It was written, I indeed shall return to representing
So they embarked, crossing hills, heights, tracks and parks
And in the darkest of ghettos found the blackest of stars
It's like they've never been the same, since they've rapped apart
One was trying to get by, one was acting parts
But the people didn't have any sympathy for sins
They said let's move on and head for the city of wind
They knew that there they'd find a man aligned with the people
Who used his sixth sense to shine a special light on evil
A no brainer, They were sure he'd supply favour
Cause he knew about the jewels and green like Kyle Rainer
Then the people began to travel down south
To seek service of the greatest mc without doubt
But they started thinking this one might do them harm
That their daughters won't be safe from his bright Southern charm
So they rang the bell on the door of the Alien vessel
The ring sounded like Parliament's Mothership Connection
He lowered the plank and said “welcome to my Spaceship
But I don't got the time to deal with all that fake shit
They were aware he hated traditional fare
Challenge Andre to a battle was increasingly rare
With his funky powers, no one had progressed us more
But the people begged him to fight one more war
So he finally agreed to participate in slaughter
In exchange for at least one date with all of their daughters
Back on course, straight for the opposite coast
To a mansion at the summit of the Hollywood slopes
They came for America's most, one of the three Kings
Someone said “Are we there yet? With a facetious grin
When he greeted them, they asked if he was up to task
Are you still a true mc or is that all in the past?
He walked away but left the door open halfway
The people looked around, not knowing what to say
But about ten minutes later, he came right back
With a head of Jheri curls and an L.A. Kings hat
Now, the people had successfully banded all seven
And smiled when they saw the legends standing all together
They made a banner to fly for the all lost mcs
They drew a T, a B, an L, a P, a J and an E
The samurai himself engraved O.D.B.
Used his knowledge of chess and gave an inspired speech
This is project English, let's rekindle our greatness
And battle to eliminate fakeness with statements
So it was on, young one looked on in awe
As the seven Knights started bringing down Kings and pawns
Used wicked chonkyfire, iron mics, Gorilla Monsoon Raps
Universal magnetic attacks to shoot up cats,
Yeah they blazed up Yung this and Soulja that
Lil whatever the f*ck couldn't even hold his gat
When it was over they raised the banner to the sky
After the massacre, once more they survived
But you could tell the people just weren't gratified
There wasn't enough blood and gore to keep them satisfied
They started shrieking, give us more, gives more!
One legend yelled, bitch, we ain't mother f*ckin whores
The seven couldn't believe the audacity, straight flabbergasted
Furious they now aimed their rage back on the masses
They knew that the people were just as guilty as they were
And that they never appreciated their skills and their labor
Some of the people cowered, some ran like Kurosawa
But they couldn't escape the raw blast of verbal power
The Seven looked down on the carnage they couldn't avoid
And knew now they were ready to rebuild what they destroyed
So the Young one turned around, stuck his sabre in the ground
And proclaimed this as the site the new Empire would be found
