The Police, formed 1977 in London, and most active until 1986 (later reunited), was a very successful English new wave and rock band. For the majority of their history, the band consisted of Sting (lead singer, bassist and principal songwriter), Andy Summers (guitarist) and Stewart Copeland (drums). The trio, who has won six Grammy Awards and with +75 million record sales, were one of the first groups with hits influenced by reggae in USA.
