Heavy rains made creeks swell and forced some Rhea County residents out of their homes as flooding destroyed some parts of Rhea County. Rhea County Executive George Thacker said the flooding was unusual since it was not as bad in the northern section of the county, as is typical.

Sgt. 1st Class Trenton L. Rhea, 33, of Kansas City, Missouri, died May 15 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was a member of the 603rd Military Police Company, in Belton, Mo. He deployed under Operation Enduring Freedom.
