He was nominated for the 2006 Tony Award for Best Original Score (music and/or lyrics) for the musical The Wedding Singer for which he wrote the music and Chad Beguelin wrote the lyrics. He is also the co-producer of the show's original Broadway cast album.Sklar is a native of Westfield, New Jersey and a graduate of Edison Intermediate School and Westfield High School.
