In a neighborhood full of children, a shot was fired Thursday afternoon, killing 22-year-old Dantae Laquan Stokes. Police are looking for the suspect, 22-year-old Byron Lee Smyre. STATESVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Police in Statesville are investigating the shooting death of a man at a home. Police found 22-year-old Dantae Laquan Stokes when they arrived Thursday afternoon. Stokes was taken to Iredell Memorial Hospital where he died.

STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Following up on a tip, Statesville Police were able to locate and arrest their suspect in the murder of a 22-year-old man in Statesville on Thursday.
