Where Tradition Meets Tomorrow
Recent Jonathan Coulton NewsGone To The Dogs - Thu, 05 Dec 2013
This game is rather simple: each answer contains the name of a dog breed. For example, the Simon & Garfunkel song that begins, "I am just a poor boy though my story's seldom told," is "The Boxer." Of course, as house musician Jonathan Coulton will tell you, a boxer is a breed of dog, as well as a person who boxes. The song is not, however, about a person who puts things in boxes.
Not On The List - Thu, 05 Dec 2013
There are songs that express heartfelt emotions, telling stories of love or loss that are both universal and deeply personal. Then there are songs that are pretty much just lists of things. This game covers those songs, though house musician Jonathan Coulton and VIP Nellie McKay have cheekily swapped out some of the items. Raindrops on roses and what on what, again?
The Disney Wrongbook - Thu, 14 Nov 2013
The song "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," from The Lion King may be about Simba and Nalas' feelings for each other. But when house musician Jonathan Coulton gets his hands on it, he just might turn it into a tribute to The Price is Right . In this game, Coulton performs renditions of Disney tunes with the lyrics rewritten to be about very non-Disney things.
Breaking It Down - Wed, 27 Nov 2013
To mark the final season of the TV show Breaking Bad , we've based this game on its opening credits, in which elemental symbols for Bromine (Br) and Barium (Ba) help spell the show's title. House musician Jonathan Coulton asks contestants to spell words using more symbols from the Periodic Table.
Hurtful Words - Thu, 21 Nov 2013
They say that love is the universal language, but they're wrong - it's pain. In this game, house musician Jonathan Coulton will tell you how people around the world say "ouch," and you have to name the language. "Úff, this eruption by the volcano Eyjafjallajökull is making me really hot!"...you said, in Icelan-glish. (That's Icelandic + English.)
