SHINEDOWN

45 Lyrics

Send away for a priceless gift
One not subtle, one not on the list
Send away for a perfect world
One not simply, so absurd
In these times of doing what you're told
You keep these feelings, no one knows

What ever happened to the young man's heart
Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart

And I'm staring down the barrel of a 45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
No real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a 45

Send a message to the unborn child
Keep your eyes open for a while
In a box high up on the shelf
Left for you, no one else
There's a piece of a puzzle known as life
Wrapped in guilt, sealed up tight

What ever happened to the young man's heart
Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart

And I'm staring down the barrel of a 45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
No real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a 45

Everyone's pointing their fingers
Always condemning me
Nobody knows what I believe
I believe

And I'm staring down the barrel of a 45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
No real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a 45

And I'm staring down the barrel of a 45
And I'm swimming through the ashes of another life
There is no real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a 45, 45
Staring down the barrel of a 45

I moved to NY to surprise my childhood love & start a family. Everyone told me not to. Shes now engaged to a jerk and is upset I didn't come sooner. But all that's left over from our past are ashes...

-Thought- a man is haunted by his past of what might have been because the decision was not his!? Not my situation just perceive it that way!

First, it is subtle, second, this song is so painful yet beautiful and third, this reminds me of my cousin who killed himself. It also reminds me of the soldiers in Iraq.

I love this song. I don't have the best life, and watching my father kill himself when I was 4 brought me trauma. Thank you so much Shinedown for making such a beautiful song. Thank you so much. :(

This is the greatest song ever, and its meaning is universally true: every person owns their life, no one else. No one has the right to take your life, only you do.
