REGINA SPEKTOR

Apres Moi Lyrics

I must go on standing
You can't break that which isn't yours
I must go on standing
I'm not my own, it's not my choice

Be afraid of the lame
They'll inherit your legs
Be afraid of the old
They'll inherit your soul

Be afraid of the cold
They'll inherit your blood
Après moi, le deluge
After me comes the flood

I must go on standing
You can't break that which isn't, isn't yours, yours
I must go on standing
I'm not my own, it's not my choice

Be afraid of the lame
They'll inherit your legs
Be afraid of the old
They'll inherit your souls

Be afraid of the cold
They'll inherit your blood
Après moi, le deluge
After me comes the flood

Be afraid of the lame
They'll inherit your legs
Be afraid of the old
They'll inherit your souls

Be afraid of the cold
They'll inherit your blood
Après moi, le deluge
After me flood

I'm not sure if this helps, but the poem can be found on the Internet by googling the first line: Fevral'. Dostat' chernyl i plakat'! Choose Russian for the results.

What she's singing in Russian is an abstract from the poem of the famous Russian poet - Boris Pasternak...

It's true. I was looking for those lyrics specifically so I could translate them for a friend. (I can't understand her well enough in the song)

It has the French line, but you're right, they leave out when she's singing in Russian, which is one of the coolest parts to the whole song.
