MUNGO JERRY

In The Summertime Lyrics

In the summertime when the weather is high you can stretch right up an' touch the sky, when the weather's fine you got women, you got women on your mind.Have a drink, have a drive,go out an' see what you can find.If her daddie's rich take her out for a meal, if her daddie's poor just do as you feel, speed along the lane, do a ton or a ton an twenty five. When the sun goes down you can make it, make it good in a lay-by. We're no threat people, we're not dirty, we're not mean, we love everybody but we do as we please. When the weather's fine we go fishing or go swimming in the sea. We're always happy, life's for living, yeah ! That's our philosophy. When the winter's here, yeah it's party time, bring a bottle, wear your bright clothes, it'll soon be summertime and we'll sing again we'll go driving or maybe we'll settle down if she's rich if she's nice bring your friends an' we'll all go into town.

The videos I've been able to find aren't too bad for lip-reading. He appears to be saying, We're no threat people, We're not dirty, we're not mean. Definitely not bad or great

There is no question that the lyrics are BAD and TON respectively. In the UK ton is 100 mph and this is a British band. Peace and love to all.

I believe it is We're not GREAT people, and Do a dollar or a dollar twenty five. A dollar as in 100 mph.

I have seen the same thing, no one seems to know the lyrics its not do a ton or a ton an 25, that doesn't even make sense. One post had the lyrics saying you can chase right up and touch the sky,

I've viewed these lyrics on three different websites and have seen three different interpretations. Does anybody really know what the lyrics are?
