Nights In White Satin Lyrics

Nights in white satin, never reaching the end
Letters I've written, never meaning to send
Beauty I'd always missed, with these eyes before
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore
'Cause I love you, yes I love you, oh, how I love you

Gazing at people, some hand in hand
Just what I'm going through they can't understand
Some try to tell me, thoughts they cannot defend
Just what you want to be, you will be in the end
And I love you, yes I love you
Oh, how I love you, oh, how I love you

Nights in white satin, never reaching the end
Letters I've written, never meaning to send
Beauty I'd always missed, with these eyes before
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore
'Cause I love you, yes I love you
Oh, how I love you, oh, how I love you

'Cause I love you, yes I love you
Oh, how I love you, oh, how I love you

(spoken)
Breathe deep in the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy's spent
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son
Senior citizens wish they were young
Cold-hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colors from our sight
Red is grey and yellow white
And we decide which is right
And which is an illusion?

I first heard this song in 1967. In the last 45 years I realized this song is about EVERYONE, and I have played almost all the roles mentioned in it. Interestingly, when U.S. Astronauts first landed on the moon on July 20,1969, it had a huge resurgence in popularity, probably because of its name.

Love this song. Haunting and emotional. Makes me want my love on the otherside of the world. It is about choices and one's destiny!

This song is best considered in the context of the entire album. A week in the life. In this particular moment of the night, it is about choice and destiny. And we decide which is right . . .

Love this song. Snow filled evenings.(Nights in White Satin) Can't sleep because he is breaking up with his true love for another love.Maybe too young. Can't find the right words on paper.

Loneliness. LOVE, unfullfilled. A haunting melody with a voice to match. Personification of lost in emotion. I can relate. Love grew, unknowing to me. I left out of kindness, she was way too young.
