GUNS N' ROSES

- Used To Love Her Lyrics

I used to love her
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, Mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
I had to put her six feet under
And I can still hear her complain

I used to love her, Oo, yeah
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, Oo, yeah
But I had to kill her
I knew I'd miss her
So I had to keep her
She's buried right in my backyard
Oh yeah, Oo yeah, whoa, oh yeah
I used to love her
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, Mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
She bitched so much, She drove me nuts
And now I'm happier this way, yeah
Whoa, oh yeah

I used to love her
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, Mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
I had to put her, Oo, six feet under
And I can still hear her complain

What is the meaning behind Used To Love Her lyrics?

When we look beyond the surface of the words, the song "Used To Love Her" of Guns N' Roses uses a metaphor to depict a relationship that had turned so bad that breaking up was the only option and love was to be 'killed' as a consequence. The repeating line 'I used to love her, but I had to kill her' represents the extreme measure taken to cut off the bad vibes and gain tranquility, even if the past is still somehow present. Used to love her lyrics largely highlight love, anger, angst, heartbreak, and nostalgia. Besides, the song captures the blend of love and loss, anger and frustration very well. The lyrics feature themes of violence and death, particularly the act of killing, which may not be suitable for children. The words chosen are also quite powerful and thus not appropriate for kids, thereby imposing an age restriction.
