Lithium Lyrics

Lithium, don't wanna lock me up inside
Lithium, don't wanna forget how it feels without
Lithium, I wanna stay in love with my sorrow
Oh, but God I wanna let it go

Come to bed, don't make me sleep alone
Couldn't hide the emptiness, you let it show
Never wanted it to be so cold
Just didn't drink enough to say you love me

I can't hold on to me
Wonder what's wrong with me?

Lithium, don't wanna lock me up inside
Lithium, don't wanna forget how it feels without
Lithium, I wanna stay in love with my sorrow
Don't wanna let it lay me down this time
Drown my will to fly
Here in the darkness I know myself
Can't break free until I let it go, let me go

Darling, I forgive you after all
Anything is better than to be alone(be alone)
And in the end I guess I had to fall
Always find my place among the ashes

I can't hold on to me
Wonder what's wrong with me?

Lithium, don't wanna lock me up inside
Lithium, don't wanna forget how it feels without
Lithium, stay in love with mmm
I'm gonna let it go

As a person dealing with the illness and have taken the drug. The song is spot on with the side effects and illness.

This has nothing to do with her family. She's singing about the chemical compound (lithium) used to treat depression. This song wasn't even wrote by her: the ex-drummer of the band was the one who created this song.

This song is about a bipolar disorder. Lithium is the main component of mood-stabilizers, which are used to treat bipolarism. The problem is that many people feel like they're letting go a part of themselves when they start taking those medicines and many of them end up dropping them. The song is about the struggle of deciding whether to stop the treatment to not to lose that part of you ("Don't wanna lock me up inside") or to keep on with it because you know it's the right thing ("but god, I wanna let it go")

This song is about loving someone you know is no good for you but you can't let them go. Lithium is a metaphor for someone you don't want but can't live without, like an addiction. As she says, anything is better than to be alone...

I agree with maggie about this maybe being about her dead sister, but, correct me if i'm wrong, lithuim is a anti depressante, so she wasn't nessisarly going to kill herself. If she singing about pizza, then this pizza must have been tasted terrible. Because i'm pretty sure pizza isn't that bad.

Amy I just want you to know that I love you music, I work in a bar and do a lot of your songs when I sing karaoke, four nights a week. As a wife and mother with manic depression, I know how it feels to have no feelings or emotions while on my meds, and the terrors you live without it. Thank you.
