Born In The Usa Lyrics

Born down in a dead man's town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up
Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
to go and kill the yellow man
Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man says "son if it was up to me"
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said "son don't you understand now"
Had a brother at Khe Sahn fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there he's all gone

He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now
Down in the shadow of penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years burning down the road
Nowhere to run ain't got nowhere to go

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I'm a long gone daddy in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I'm a cool rocking daddy in the U.S.A.

It's not Bruce that is negative, it's the lives of the Vietnam veterans, and the 50,000 Americans who died there. If you love the country or anything, then you have to love it for what it is, flaws and all, and help it. Blind praise isn't love.

@Francis, You obviously do not know any Vietnam Vets. Their freedom you speak of was taken away when the draft FORCED them to fight a war in a foreign land. Have some decency and think before typing

The America Bruce is singing about is a reality for many. Bruce may be successful but that doesn't mean he can't criticize how the have-nots are treated. The US has more citizens in prison (percentually) than any other nation on earth. Doesn't sound like a flawless system, does it?

It is a sad lament on not having much, not much future, and seeing all that is lost in war. Exciting, explosive, tune. I always turn the volume up when I hear this.

I laugh eveytime I see this artist bashing the USA as he uses every tax loop hole he can get. This guys pays no real estate taxs to New Jersey claiming he is farmer. yah right.

He bashes & loathes the capitalistic system he's made a million +, from. To boot he avoids or takes advantage of any loophole he can find while owning some of the most valuable land in NJ. Gentleman Farmer. NOT. Draft dodger on top of that.

Kathryn if you look close at the rhetoric which many people overlook all the time it says THEY Put a rifle, they not choice. Then says sent me off to a foreign land. Sent is referring to they in the line above.

I do not know why Bruce is so negative about my beloved USA. I do not know his life's history but he obviously doesn't know America's. We have stood for freedom from it's inception. What a small man
