Money For Nothing Lyrics

Now look at them yo-yo's that's the way you
do it
You play the guitar on the MTV
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Money for nothin' and chicks for free
Now that ain't workin' that's the way you
do it
Lemme tell ya them guys ain't dumb
Maybe get a blister on your little finger
Maybe get a blister on your thumb

We gotta install microwave ovens
Custom kitchen deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators
We gotta move these color TV's

See the little faggot with the earring and
the make-up
Yeah buddy that's his own hair
That little faggot got his own jet airplane
That little faggot he's millionaire

We gotta install microwave ovens
Custom kitchen deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators
We gotta move these color TV's

I shoulda' learned to play the guitar
I shoulda' learned to play them drums
Look at that mama, she got it stickin' in
the camera
Man we could have some fun
And he's up there, what's that ? Hawaiian
noises ?
Bangin' on the bongos like a chimpanzee
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Get your money for nothin' get your chicks
for free

We gotta install microwave ovens
Custom kitchen deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators
We gotta move these color TV's, Lord

Now that ain't workin' that's the way you
do it
You play the guitar on the MTV
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Money for nothin' get your chicks for free
Money for nothin' get chicks for free

Thanks Canada. You made me check out the lyrics again which reminded me how excellent this song is. Never knew it was inspired by a 'bonehead in a hardware shop' either which adds another dimension.

last try. This site's input field STINKS. It's 2011 and you can't handle a quote-mark or an underscore? now it's choking because I used 2 apostrophes in a row? It's his own AFFAIR not HAIR

I'm Canadian, and I'm not happy that our gov't is censoring radio play of the song. Of course it doesn't stop us from listening to it on our mp3 players etc. It's been out for years, NOW we ban it?

The N-word and many other nasty ones are coming your way. Don't compolain when shii-it hits your own f-u-ckng face.

I used to play this song in my head over and over when I was working in a motel. I finally have closure now. Ah..what a wonderful feeling.

The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council actually overturned the ban! because I guess in context, it is the point of view of the delivery guy character in the song.

I love this song. One day when I was listening to this i thought that I would just go and buy the c.d.So I did and that Song is what made me an 80's fan and I've been doing that ever since.

I have the album, which has the lyrics on the sleeve. 'Chicks' and 'hair are both correct, but in v3 it should be 'Man we could have some fun', not 'Man we can have some'.

Actually Dedicated Dad, it is HAIR not AFFAIR. He just annunciates the N of OWN heavily, i.e. Yeah buddy, that's his own(a) hair.

oingboingo, Canada can't ban a song any more than you can ban Canada. But yes, any station that follows the CBSC can't publicly broadcast certain words. Fortunately Dire Straits made alternate lyrics.
