Recommended By Your Mom are a New Zealand based pop-punk band consisting of singer Matthew Johnston, 19, guitarist Josh Edmonds, 21, bassist Joel Tyrie, 19, and drummer Sam Edmonds, 19. They started in high school in 2008 to enter Smokefree Rockquest, and in 2009 they won their regional finals. In 2010 the band gigged extensively around the South Island, playing at high schools, clubs and festivals, with many other NZ bands, including Opshop. By the end of 2010 the band had written, recorded and released their first album, "Now We Are", which received airplay around the top of the South Island.
